Question by miaosquared: Meaning of Japanese origami crane family kamon?
My great grandparents’ kamon was the crane and I was thinking of getting it as a tattoo for a symbol of my family.

However, I’m not sure which it is. I’ve bought a book on Japanese Crests especially for this, and saw a couple of crane crests but was wondering if there’s an origami crane kamon? And if there is, what is the meaning of it?

You mean Origami crane.I didn’t know about it but I searched it on Japanese website and found it.You mean this one,right?

Original crane mean is long life,so ppl liked to use it for long life or ppl wishing own family prosperity.Kamon have so many designs.Maybe ppl doesn’t want to use same design with any other family.So crane also have so much designed.
